Biography
Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim (1987–2024) was a biophysicist and structural biologist whose scientific career spanned photosynthesis research and structure-based drug discovery. After graduating with first-class honors from Ain Shams University, he was awarded an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship and continued his scientific training in Sweden and Germany. His research focused on understanding Photosystem II using advanced structural methods, including X-ray free-electron lasers (XFEL), before later expanding into the structural study of coronavirus proteases and antiviral drug design. Throughout his career, Mohamed contributed to several scientific publications in highly impactful journals. His dedication to science and research continues to inspire the mission of the Mohamed Ibrahim Initiative.
Our mission
We believe that a person's impact does not end with their passing. The knowledge they leave behind, the good they set in motion, and the difference they make in the lives of others can continue for generations.
It is from this belief that the Mohamed Ibrahim Initiative was born—in memory of Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim (1987–2024) and as a continuation of his scientific and human legacy. Mohamed devoted his life to science and research, believed deeply in the value of perseverance and learning, and left an impact through his research, his colleagues, and the young scientists around him.
The Initiative began with Mohamed's legacy, but its vision reaches further: to turn the impact of science into a lasting legacy and to create opportunities for young scientists and researchers to build their own paths, so that they, in turn, can leave an impact that extends beyond them to future generations.
Through scholarships, awards, and academic and scientific support programs, the Initiative seeks to invest in people and in science. We believe that supporting a young researcher today may be the beginning of beneficial knowledge and an impact that continues for generations.
From one legacy to another... we believe that a single opportunity can be the beginning of a scientific journey, and that every young scientist we support today may create a new legacy tomorrow.

Flagship Program
The Mohamed Ibrahim Academic Excellence Scholarship is one of the scholarship programs established under the Mohamed Ibrahim Scholarship Initiative. The scholarship supports outstanding Egyptian and refugee Arab students and graduates who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and a strong commitment to pursuing postgraduate studies in STEM fields.

Dentistry, Translational Dental Research & Biomaterials

Enas Elwakeel is a licensed dentist from Egypt with a strong interest in translational dental research and biomaterials. She has contributed to multiple scientific publications and founded a nationally recognized oral health initiative serving rural and underserved communities. Her long-term goal is to bridge the gap between bench research and chairside dental practice.
Plant Protection, Integrated Pest Management & Sustainable Agriculture
Teaching Assistant and PhD Researcher
Abdel Rahman Saad Mubarak Ali is a Teaching Assistant and PhD researcher in Plant Protection whose work focuses on sustainable agriculture, integrated pest management, and plant health. His research aims to address agricultural challenges by integrating scientific knowledge with practical and environmentally responsible crop protection strategies. He is particularly interested in precision agriculture and the development of resilient farming systems that support sustainable food production and food security.
